Water Testing
Because frequent testing of pool water is an important part of total pool maintenance, BioGuard makes test kits, replacement reagents and test strips. Your BioGuard Authorized Dealer can also analyze your water for you in the store free of charge. It's a good idea to bring in a water sample every 4-6 weeks to maintain proper balance. Remember to replace reagents and check the expiration date of test strips at the beginning of each season for the most accurate results.
| Algicides & Algae Solutions
Algae prevention is the third step in the BioGuard 3-Step and Once-a-Week 3-Step Programs. Because algae is one of the most common and troublesome pool maintenance problems, we recommend prevention as the best cure. For suppressing algae, Optimizer® Plus* is a great choice. You can use it with any sanitizer type, and it also enhances water quality for a softer feel and sparkling appearance. You can also choose BioGuard Back Up® or BioGuard Algae All 60™ for preventing algae growth. Our best suggestion is to use both Optimizer® Plus and Back Up®. Stain Preventors
Many fill water sources, especially from wells, contain trace amounts of metals such as iron, copper and manganese. These can cause stains if untreated.
